The Future for Pat Buchanan

That title could go a lot of directions, none of them good from Buchanan’s point of view.

I have a specific one in mind, though.

You know how we look back at things people did or said in the 1940s and 50s, and say, “How in the world could they not know that was racist?”

That’s what American history and poli sci students will ask their professors about Pat Buchanan in 40-50 years: “how could anybody not know he was a racist?  How in the world could a major news network put that guy on the air, day after day?  I mean, good grief! How obvious does it have to get?!”

They’re going to be just as perplexed and disappointed with our generation for keeping this guy’s career alive as we are with the generation that kept George Wallace’s career alive.
