Let’s Get It Started…

by

All right folks. Lots of stuff going on in the world of hurricane relief. Lots of work to be done. That doesn’t mean we can take a little time here and there for a bit of diversion. One of the country’s favorite diversions has just started back up and is in full swing… NCAA and NFL football.

Huge game tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio. #2Texas vs. #4 Ohio State. My pick’s a no-brainer. What do the rest of you think?

Here are my NFL picks:
NFC East: Philly
NFC North: Vikes
NFC South: Atlanta
NFC West: St. Louis (Until Arizona shows me something)
NFC WC: Cowboys
NFC WC: Arizona

NFC Champ: Atlanta

AFC East: Pats (duh)
AFC North: Baltimore
AFC South: Indy
AFC West: San Diego
AFC WC: Houston (my very dark horse pick and my homer pick)
AFC WC: Jets

AFC Champ: Indy

Super Bowl Champ: Indy (finally)

One more thing… If the MLB season ended today, I’d be in the lead for our August madness with a perfect 8 for 8 on playoff teams. Go Stros!

    Here are my NFL picks:

NFC South: YOUR News Orleans SAINTS

    NFC WC: Panthers

NFC Champ: YOUR News Orleans SAINTS

    AFC East: Pats (duh)

    AFC WC: Pittsburgh
    AFC WC: Jets

    AFC Champ: Pittsburgh

And in the most transcendent sports story the world has ever seen; out of a quagmire of pain and suffering, a football team shows passion and determination that makes Lance Armstrong look like a whimpering infant. The 2006 Super Bowl champion, hardened by steely grit and determination, winning the hearts of the nation as they win football games, will be YOUR NEW ORLEANS SAINTS!

If you’re real mean, you’ll crush my dream.

I’ll let the Saints pick ride. That would be the feel good story of ALL TIME.

I’ll only take issue with the Pittsburgh pick. Plaxico was a huge loss for them. Bettis will be the starter when he comes back from injury, but it won’t be enough. Too much pressure on Roethlisberger and he already showed cracks at the end of last season and in the playoffs. (spelled it right on the first try, ha!) Big dropoff for the Steelers this year and they don’t even make the playoffs.

  3. DeJon Redd Says:

From 15 and 1 to out of the playoffs. I don’t believe they’ll drop that bad.

I think their defense is the best in the league. (Yes, better than Baltimore)

Rothlisburger (I’ll try to spell it next time) did falter later in the year, but I think he returns better for it. And the team doesn’t need Peyton Manning under center to win. The running game will keep them honest and the receiving corps is severly under-rated. (Ward, Randal-El, Wilson)

Obviously, the Steelers think they can get by again by ordering Roethlisberger to hand off and get out of the way of a physical ball-control, defense-oriented, tough football team, the kind Cowher assembles with uncanny regularity.

As a believer in the defense, I agree.
